CSU Fresno Aquatics Complex & Kinesiology Center

Blair, Church & Flynn worked closely with architects and California State University, Fresno, to develop a new $7.5 million aquatics facility serving the multi-use needs of athletes, students, and recreation. The aquatics complex was designed to serve the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition sports and Fresno State’s Kinesiology department, as well as student recreation and intramural leagues. Our firm was responsible for incorporating all of the University’s needs, as well as the
community’s, with the planning and design of the aquatic complex.
The aquatics complex includes competition pool, diving warm pool, dry land practice area, kinesiology pool, elevated spectator seating, pool building, and supporting facilities such as restrooms and mobile concessions. The competition pool includes long- and short-course options with a professional timing system and scoreboard for swimming and water polo. The long course is eight lanes wide by 50-meter length and the short course is 20 lanes wide by 25-yard length. Diving facilities include two 1-meter spring boards; two 3-meter spring boards; dive tower with 5-meter, 7.5-meter, and 10-meter platforms; warm pool, and artificial turf dry land practice area with 1-meter spring board and trampoline. The Kinesiology pool is 5 lanes wide by 20-yard length containing shallow therapy area and disabled lift.
